Side Effects of Hoodia

Is there anything to be worried about?

rumours or truths

What is a side effect?    Think about it!

All ‘side effects’ really mean is ‘another effect other than the desired effect.’

Example:
Hoodia is known to intensify the moods of some people – including sexual arousal. If anything this is a bonus! Or a positive side effect. All the same mention the words ‘contains side effects’  and the majority of people wouldn’t even give the product a second glance. Let alone, read on to see what the side effects are.  Hoodia Gordonii, although proclaimed to have no known side effects, has got some detractors.

Rumour 1: Hoodia causes minor stomach upsets.
This is a rumour floating around weight loss forums. None of the clinical studies that have been performed on Hoodia Gordonii, has EVER – mentioned this. There is no proof whatsoever to back up this rumour. No mention of which brand or product they’re using; how much they were taking or what the rest of their diet consisted of. So throw into the mix a poor fatty diet with overdosing on cheap or fake pills, and the answer is simple… any of these other factors could have caused the stomach upset. And the Hoodia pill itself? Could have had nothing to do with it.

Rumour 2: Hoodia may damage your liver.
When Phytopharm was first given the patent to P57, they teamed up with Pfizer to put the active molecule into production. And they made an interesting discovery. Following extensive tests, they discovered that P57 is easily broken down by the liver. Good news so far, but for anyone with an abnormal liver this could spell increased stress levels. If you are intending to use a Hoodia supplement, and you have got liver problems, you should consult with your doctor to be on the safe side.

Rumour 3: Hoodia affects the usefullness of medication.
There is a small risk that it may affect your other medications. But that’s the same for every for every product on the market. Take the contraceptive pill for example. 99% effective when taken alone, but add antibiotics to the mix and it’s effectiveness, well…cannot be guaranteed. It is just a question of monitoring what you are taking. If you suffer from diabetes, blood pressure or depression, then no you should be careful. But what product can safely claim to not affect anything? Exactly!.

Rumour 4: Diabetics should not use it.
Hoodia works by tricking the neurotransmitters that go to your brain. That is to say your hunger signals. It is through this chemical mechanism that your appetite becomes suppressed and you lose weight. Sounds great, but if you are diabetic this can affect your blood sugar levels. And if your hunger signals are switched off, all your normal warning signs could come too late. So if you are diabetic, you should either use Hoodia in small doses or consult with your doctor.

So is Hoodia safe? Yes!

These rumours about side effects are all based on a Hoodia supplement market that is 80% fake. A market that is cheaply making supposed ‘100% pure Hoodia Gordonii’ and selling it on to you as the genuine article. It’s true. Look at their ingredients list and I guarantee you’ll find a lot of hidden extras. Hidden extras that could be the true cause of these side effects. It could be anything. Especially when you consider the fact that many of these products are not telling the truth about their real ingredient list.

A checklist before you buy any Hoodia products:

1. It must be made from 100% unaltered Kalahari Hoodia Gordonii.
